I was one year postpartum and decided I had to do something to get myself back in shape. I came across the T25 infomercial one day while I was watching TV and it really caught my attention. It sounded like the perfect program for me considering I had a baby who took short naps and woke up at least five times a night. 25 minutes a day!? I could totally do that! I was at the point where I knew I needed to do something, ANYTHING, to lose weight and gain my self-esteem back, so I went for it.
As soon as I received my program , I was pumped to get started! I popped the DVD in right away and got started. I fell in love with the trainer, Shaun T, immediately. He’s motivating, supportive, upbeat and encouraging. I noticed there was a modifier who did the same moves but lower impact. I thought that was great because I knew I would need to modify for a while since I hadn’t exercised in months. After the first few workouts, I knew I had chosen the perfect program. I wasn’t getting bored of the workouts and actually looked forward to doing it every day. I will admit, I was insanely sore the first week and struggled getting my butt out of bed in the morning, but it felt GREAT because I knew my body was making changes. As the days went on, I felt myself getting stronger and not needing the modifier as much.
Each workout focuses on a different part of the body, so I knew I was getting a total body workout each week. The combination of strength training and cardio, also called High Intensity Interval training (HIIT), has proved to be one of the most effective ways to lose fat and build muscle.
Focus T25 is made up of five weeks of the Alpha phase and five weeks of the Beta phase. To get started, you will need the Focus T25 program, and either dumbells or resistance bands. That’s it!
The alpha cycle includes these five workouts:
-Total Body Circuit
During the alpha phase, I lost a total of 10 pounds and felt my clothes getting loose around week 3. After the third week, I started to become less sore every day and barely needed to modify. After the five weeks, I was anxious to move on to the beta phase.
The beta phase includes these five workouts:
During the beta phase, I lost another 5 pounds and my fat was melting away! This phase focuses a little more on strength training. I really enjoyed using the dumbells and challenging myself on another level. For five weeks, I did all of the workouts without the modifier and really felt my muscles growing. Once I finished the beta phase, I knew I had to buy the optional gamma phase because of how much progress I was seeing with T25.
The gamma phase includes these four workouts:
The gamma phase was my favorite out of all three! This was the phase that I really noticed my body looking more lean and fit. My biceps were growing, my abs were becoming more defined and my legs were leaning out! The focus in this phase is to get you ripped and increase your strength. If you do T25 alpha and beta, I highly recommend moving on to the gamma phase to get AMAZING results.
Overall, I think Focus T25 is a great program for anyone! Whether you haven’t worked out in years, or you’re already in shape, you can benefit from doing this program. It will help you lose, fat, gain muscle, and increase your speed and endurance. It’s perfect for anyone who has a busy schedule and doesn’t have much time to dedicate to the gym! This is by far my favorite program because it’s the reason I have reached my goal. Between Shaun T motivating me every day and seeing the fat melt away, I became addicted to eating healthy and working out!
Least favorite T25 workout: Speed 3.0. They should really call this workout Burpees 3.0. By this point in the program, you will be used to doing tons of burpees BUT 3.0 is a whole different story. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
Favorite T25 workout: Speed 2.0. This workout is so much fun! Between the music in the background and the fun moves, you will feel like you’re in a dance routine. 25 minutes flies by when you do this one!
